Ticket booth attendant – sold steak dinner tickets and wine/beer tasting packages to increase the community’s awareness to the vendors of the event.
The purpose of the event was to highlight the two major local industries in Texas, namely beer and wine.
I learned that an event that promotes local companies/vendors is very well attended and supported by the community. From a volunteer’s perspective, the positioning of the ticket booths as well as not having enough staffing for some of them resulted in not providing the participants with the best opportunity to supply them with ticket availability. There was also very little training involved which led to not having a smooth transition to the next person taking over the shift. Finally, no training was provided on how to deal with drunk people.
